New Fitness Equipment Installed At Sunset Park

Sunset Park in Sturgeon Bay is getting some brand-new fitness equipment.

Crews took advantage of bright, sunny conditions Tuesday to work on installing several new fitness stations on the north side of the park.

Sturgeon Bay Parks and Recreation Director Bob Bordeau says each of the stations will offer 24 exercises that will give users a total body workout and promote the four key types of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular, flexibility and body composition. Each station will have instruction signs that feature three different skill levels.

Bordeau says the hope is that the equipment will help make exercise fun by bringing it outdoors and bring the community together by promoting a healthy lifestyle.

He says the ultimate goal is to get more people into Sturgeon Bay’s parks…

Bordeau says the Door County YMCA plans to offer a free class geared to people of all ages and abilities that utilizes both the equipment and the nearby ½ mile running/walking track.

Bordeau says the project was made possible through partial funding from Ministry Door County Medical Center and the Raibrook Foundation.
