All new, top quality, fitness equipment is due to be installed as part of the refurbishment of the Tone Zone fitness suite due to start at Hornsea Leisure Centre on Monday, 18 June.

The Tone Zone will be closed for two weeks to allow for the existing equipment to be removed for auction, the room will then be refurbished and the exciting new equipment installed. It will reopen on Saturday, 30 June, as part of an open weekend which will showcase the new facility as well as the wide range of classes the centre has to offer.

The new Tone Zone will have the latest Matrix exercise equipment, including treadmills, cross trainers, cycles, weight training equipment, a vibration power plate and stretching area. The new equipment will include integrated televisions, with their own freeview box to give a wide choice in channels, be iPod compatible and have their own personal fans.

Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The start of this work is excellent and I welcome the investment made by the council into improving the services for the people of Hornsea.

“These works, when completed, will not only make a real contribution towards encouraging more use of the centre but also to improving the health and wellbeing of people across the area.”

David Chalmers, senior facility manager at Hornsea Leisure Centre, said “The refurbishment of the Tone Zone continues the work we have recently undertaken in the pool changing rooms and health suite to improve the quality of facilities on offer to customers.”

Hornsea Leisure Centre already offers a wide range of health improvement programmes such as exercise referral, cardiac rehabilitation and the Live Well weight management programme, all of which will benefit from the improved facilities.
